Lack\u00ading an agen\u00adda or man\u00adi\u00adfesto and thus forg\u00ading on direc\u00adtion\u00adless, the site becomes a rolling adver\u00adtise\u00adment for the eleven\u2019s com\u00adpa\u00adnies, blogs &amp; books, with wordy intro\u00adduc\u00adtions that are unnec\u00ades\u00adsary for the tar\u00adget audi\u00adence and will prob\u00ada\u00adbly be skipped, because hon\u00adest\u00adly who wants to read eleven resum\u00c3\u00a9s of the self-elected?<\/p>\n<p>At this point I was going to make a crack about CSST\u00adwelve with Julia Roberts, but instead I\u2019ll get seri\u00adous: The group aims to ral\u00adly design\u00aders instead of hav\u00ading them whine piece\u00admeal on dis\u00adparate forums for the next ten years. This is a wor\u00adthy cause; with the WHATWG\u2019s effort reach\u00ading crit\u00adi\u00adcal mass a com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty CSS group has a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant chance of chang\u00ading the Work\u00ading Group\u2019s direc\u00adtion. Keep\u00ading the yap\u00adping mass con\u00adtent (and cor\u00adrect\u00adly informed) while man\u00adag\u00ading use\u00adful sug\u00adges\u00adtions will take con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adable time and effort; a quick peek at the first two months of HTML5WG emails demon\u00adstrates how peo\u00adple can get most upset that their issue <em>has\u00adn\u2019t even been dis\u00adcussed yet<\/em> (that may or may not be a sly nod to some\u00adone in the CSSEleven.)<\/p>\n<p>(An aside: Fan\u00adta\u00adsai\u2019s trea\u00adtise on the CSSWG gave peo\u00adple a fair idea about the lim\u00adit\u00aded time and man\u00adpow\u00ader avail\u00adable to the poor souls bur\u00addened with plan\u00adning CSS\u2019 future, but I\u2019ve always felt that CSS3\u2019s mod\u00adu\u00adlar approach was the begin\u00adning of the fall; I\u2019m pleased to see news of a \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.css3.info\/css-snapshot-2007-released-as-a-working-draft\/\">CSS snap\u00adshot<\/a>\u201d of sorts. It\u2019s still not the right approach, and does noth\u00ading to com\u00adbat the per\u00adfec\u00adtion\u00adism trap\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<em>If it\u2019s worth doing, it\u2019s worth doing well<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthat\u2019s under\u00adstand\u00adably dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to avoid when writ\u00ading unver\u00adsioned specs, but it\u2019s a won\u00adder\u00adful line in the sand for brows\u00ader vendors.)<\/p>\n<p>I wish the CSSE\u00adleven the best of luck, and may they soon have some con\u00adtent, a blog and a com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty meet\u00ading&nbsp;place.<\/p>\n<p>Time for&nbsp;bed!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CSSEleven.com.
