Lucky I don\u2019t get sick of com\u00adplain\u00ading about IE6; even now, sev\u00aden years after its release, mar\u00adket share keeps it on our test\u00ading matrix:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IE6: ~36%<\/li>\n<li>IE7: ~32%<\/li>\n<li>Fire\u00adfox: ~19%<\/li>\n<li>Safari: ~3%<\/li>\n<li>Opera: ~2%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(Stats tal\u00adlied from sev\u00ader\u00adal pub\u00adlic sources late last&nbsp;year)<\/p>\n<p>Of course these stats are a rough aver\u00adage from sev\u00ader\u00adal sources wide\u00adly vary\u00ading demo\u00adgraph\u00adics (and the num\u00adbers don\u2019t even add up to&nbsp;100%).<\/p>\n<p>One of the few seri\u00adous ben\u00ade\u00adfits of MS\u2019s Vista push is IE6 being errad\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded in its wake. XP\u2019s lat\u00adest ser\u00advice pack still does\u00adn\u2019t include IE7 though \u2014 they must be fac\u00ading off with a lot of cor\u00adpo\u00adrate intranet admins whose busi\u00adness soft\u00adware still depends on IE6 Javascript bugs.<\/p>\n<p>Curi\u00adous\u00adly, Microsoft will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techarp.com\/showarticle.aspx?artno=621\">\u2018push\u00ading\u2019 IE8 to Vista and XP<\/a> via OEM chan\u00adnels (think Dell) as an option\u00adal com\u00adpo\u00adnent.
