This is just a cur\u00adso\u00adry inspec\u00adtion from con\u00adsumer and devel\u00adop\u00ader angles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nice visu\u00adals on the top sites &amp; book\u00admarks fea\u00adtures. Lim\u00adit\u00aded long-last\u00ading appeal for essen\u00adtial\u00adly a glam\u00adour fea\u00adture though, and it was\u00adn\u2019t imme\u00addi\u00adate\u00adly appar\u00adent how to edit the top sites, where they were stored, and how they came to get in my brows\u00ader (I had the same data cus\u00adtomi\u00adsa\u00adtion issues with <a href=\"http:\/\/xhva.net\/log\/?p=32\">Flock a while back<\/a>). <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.opera.com\/discover\/?feature=speeddial\">Oper\u00ada\u2019s Speed\u00adDi\u00adal<\/a> feels much more user-friend\u00adly at this&nbsp;stage.<\/li>\n<li>Tab place\u00adment is <strong>hor\u00adren\u00addous<\/strong> on Win\u00addows; at least Chrome\u2019s tabs make a pass at being in the brows\u00ader win\u00addow\u2019s con\u00adtent area. Stop screw\u00ading with inter\u00adface con\u00adven\u00adtions \u2014 treat\u00ading some tab mouse events as the app title bar is con\u00adtex\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly con\u00adfus\u00ading (dou\u00adble-click, drag\u00adging). Please stop inno\u00advat\u00ading things that don\u2019t need innovation.<\/li>\n<li>Each Safari release reminds me how good Webkit\u2019s ren\u00adder\u00ader is. <strong>Awe\u00adsome<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Thanks for leav\u00ading the abil\u00adi\u00adty to chose alter\u00adnate font ren\u00adder\u00ading in \u2014 I thought this might be on the chop\u00adping block. I hate XP\u2019s ren\u00adder\u00ading of gener\u00adic web type\u00adfaces. Switch\u00ading between the default and alter\u00adnate actu\u00adal\u00adly exposed the cause of the head\u00ader posi\u00adtion\u00ading bug on my <a href=\"http:\/\/xhva.net\/work\/testdesign26\/\">Test Design 26<\/a> page,&nbsp;heh.<\/li>\n<li>Please imple\u00adment mid\u00addle-click tab&nbsp;close.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I was sur\u00adprised to see CSS Ani\u00adma\u00adtions and CSS Effects men\u00adtioned on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/safari\/features.html#technologies\">Fea\u00adtures page<\/a> \u2014 these are <a href=\"http:\/\/webkit.org\/specs\/\">Apple CSS specs<\/a> that (as far as I know) are still exposed in Webkit with the \u2011webkit- pre\u00adfix. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/Style\/CSS\/current-work\">CSS Work\u00ading Group site<\/a> lists these mod\u00adules as an <em>upcom\u00ading<\/em> work\u00ading draft (unlinked but <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.w3.org\/csswg\/\">avail\u00adable on the w3c dev serv\u00ader<\/a>). Are they mature enough for use out\u00adside of an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/iphone\/\">closed, inter\u00adnal ecosys\u00adtem<\/a>? I must admit that I empathise with any\u00adone who tries to get specs through the W3C process.<\/p>\n<p>Speak\u00ading of specs in progress, I was delight\u00aded to see the Safari site\u2019s writ\u00adten in HTML5 (yes I\u2019m a hyp\u00adocrit for advo\u00adcat\u00ading unfin\u00adished specs here and ques\u00adtion\u00ading them above, but HTML5 is much more mature). IE demands sac\u00adri\u00adfice, so the page includes<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<pre>&lt;script type=\"text\/javascript\" charset=\"utf-8\"&gt;\n\tdocument.createElement(\"article\");\n\tdocument.createElement(\"nav\");\n\tdocument.createElement(\"section\");\n\tdocument.createElement(\"header\");\n\tdocument.createElement(\"aside\");\n\tdocument.createElement(\"footer\");\n&lt;\/script&gt;<\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>to make non-exis\u00adtent tags be treat\u00aded as both non-void and styleable. The Safari start\u00adup page actu\u00adal\u00adly uses the &lt;video&gt; and &lt;audio&gt; tags too, and it sure was freaky to see video with\u00adout Flash installed.<\/p>\n<p>[Update: eek, <a href=\"http:\/\/html5.validator.nu\/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fapple.com%2Fsafari\">the page isn\u2019t valid HTML5<\/a>. &lt;sec\u00adtion&gt;, &lt;head\u00ader&gt;, &lt;foot\u00ader&gt; and &lt;nav&gt; are mis\u00adused. For the &lt;foot\u00ader&gt; links they\u2019d be bet\u00adter off using a par\u00adent UL instead of &lt;h3&gt;s.
